Fresh New Chevron Barstool - DIY

This past weekend I put my DIY hat on and revived these old bar stools. The pictures 

are pretty self explanatory but let me run through the steps.

1. Sand the Stool to rough the surface and give the paint something to adhere to.

2. I painted the entire chair. I opted for a satin finish, light gray. 

3. After the stool had dried, I taped out the design. This was done using a measured 

piece of paper, to ensure precise distance between each piece. And painters tape. 

I used the width of the painters tape as the width of the chevron design, it made 

things easy. 

4. *** Important Tip*** After the tape had been placed, I painted the SAME light gray 

over top of it before I painted the white. This sealed the edges of the tape so any over 

run would be gray not white. This made the lines so crisp. 

5. And finally I painted the white over the design. And once it was dry I pulled the 

tape off and Wallah! Another ***Important Tip*** is to pull the tape at a 

sharp angle backwards. This will ensure you paint will not pull off. 

We are so happy with our new little nook!

DIY Tee-Shirt Scarves

These DIY Tee-Shirt Scarves are being Pinned all over Pinterest. 

And me being so keen on scarves was quick to investigate... 

Thanks to Method Home, heres how to make one of your very own!

1.    grab some cotton t-shirts you don’t wear anymore.  

larger sizes tend to work better as do non-ribbed 

shirts with no side seams. small logos on the shirts work 

fine, too.
2.    grab a pair of fabric scissors if you have them, 

otherwise any scissors will do.
3.    lay the shirt out on a flat table in front of you.
4.    cut the hem off the bottom and put it aside.
5.    cut the shirt into 1-1 1/2 ”  horizontal strips all 

the way up to the armpit.

6.    grab 3-4 shirt strips in both hands, and gently stretch

 them out. the strips will naturally curl into themselves.

7.    once you have done this with many of the strips, 

it is time to get creative.  try draping them, wrapping 

one end with excess fabric, combining colors, braiding

 them, attaching beads, pins, old jewelry, etc.

I  think you could easily turn this into a DIY with an old table, some chalkboard paint and some TLC.

DIY Table Runner

LOVE vintage doilies. And I am swimming in them at the moment. 

So when I came across this adorable table runner I thought "Brilliant" What a great idea. I love how some have a vintage tea stained look and some are bright white. If you put a mason jar of 

wild flowers over that it would send it over the top for sure.
