Friday

Happy Friday...Off to a WEDDING!

One of my best friends and wedding photographers
(as noted above by the fantastic collage of photos
take by his company... LOVE his work!) is getting
MARRIED this weekend! Yay! Dave and I are hitting
the road for a super long road trip to O-HI-O!

I can't wait to see you and Nicole, Zac!

Thursday

A Vintage Claw foot Tub ... Sofa!

Um... A green claw foot tub sofa... have I just hit the
furniture repurposed heaven or what!? First of all,
I love that crazy bright green, and could see some
really fun bright colors to match it. Cushions are a
must for this sucker though and would be a fun project
for anyone willing... The only thing I am not in love
with are those metallic feet. I think I would
paint them white for a softer look.

Would you ever be so bold as to us a tub as your sofa?
...You know, assuming it was comfortable...
cushions blankets and pillows galore (of corse)

Wednesday

Dear Fall,

Dear Fall,
I am not ready for you but if you must come,
I shall meet you bundled up in cozy layers of stripes.
Sincerely your Friend,
Tara
Fall is upon us.
What are you wearing?

On my list are:
scarves (oh so many)
elbow length gloves
stripes
layers
and boots.

Tuesday

Sand Art in California... Wow.

Can you imagine walking out onto the beach and
seeing these beautiful sand drawings? Can you also
imagine spending hours making these awesome beach
art pieces knowing they will wash away with the tide?

Self taught American artist, Jim Denevan has draped
the Northern California coasts with these beautiful
layers of impermanent sandy artworks for the past
17 years. Wouldn't it be cool to walk out onto the
beach one morning to see all of that?!

Friday

A Serious Bet

May all your dreams come true this weekend.

Happy Friday!
What a week!

Thursday

I heart these shoes.

Oh my goodness.
Look at these shoes by Peter Jensen. Aren't they amazing?
Wouldn't they look cute with a pair of skinnies and a
perfect white tee? Love love love.

Wednesday

Furniture Rehab...

Have you seen the new TV show Picker Sisters?
Three episodes came on in a row last night (cha-ching!)
and I was hooked! Its about two interior designers who
go around the country searching for 'junk' to refinish
and turn into really cool furniture. In one episode they
bought a Silo for $400 and turned it into 2 round
hanging porch chairs. {Ubber Cool} It's on Lifetime,
check it out. Its the Ultimate Before and After.
This morning when I saw these cool chairs
upholstered out of old potato sacs I thought,

"Cool, the Picker Sisters would love this"

... and than it was
clear to me that I have lost my mind.
But lets be honest, they are pretty cool, right?

Monday

Do you make your bed?

 Do you make your bed?

I grew up making my bed everyday and as I grew older
and moved out of the house the option to not make my
bed was like sweet liberation. So needless to say I have
not been a bed maker for quite a few years now.

But after being stuck inside during the hurricane,
Dave and I got some serious cleaning done and our
bedroom looks amazing! I woke up this morning to
fresh air blowing in the windows and our bedroom
smelled so fresh and delicious, that the urge just struck
me. I made my bed. Mom you would be proud.

Than I thought about how many other 20 somethings
are making their bed these days and how many
are still living in the liberation years.

So I'm wondering, do you make your bed?

UPDATE Oct 1, 2011: I have made my bed everyday since (VG me)

J-Crew Brides Maids

Next October I get to be in one of my Best Friend's
weddings as her Maid of Honor and its time to talk
about Brides Maids dresses!

Alicia and I have not talked much about what
type of dresses she wants her brides maids in but
she said she wants short dresses vs long.

Doesn't J-crew have some gorgeous dresses?
My sister wore a wedding dress from j-crew and we
wore j-crew brides maid dresses. It gave the wedding
a really sweet soft and less posed look...

Eeeee!
Weddings are so much fun! I can't wait Alicia!

Jewelry sweet Jewelry...

I was invited to go to a Jewelry party last night but
I had to miss it to get home to my sweet little dog who
unfortunately does not have opposable thumbs to let
herself out to go to the bathroom (evolution should get
on that) Although I am sure my wallet dodged a bullet,
I am still in jewelry mode, dreaming about what might
have been. Aren't these pieces by Apostrophie beautiful?

Thursday

Care for a drink...?

A thousand Different uses for a glass.
For the thrifty/gadget loving connoisseur.

Wednesday

Custom Family Portrait

Meant for a Moment recently worked with this adorable
family to create a custom Family Portrait {cutest baby
ever} The beach is a really nostalgic place for her
husband because he grew up there. Since they live
in-land now she chose to set the scene on the sand
and give him a little taste of home.

I think she surprised him with this portrait. {xox}

Locks on a Bridge for LOVE

Oh my gosh, I love this tradition that the Germans
have started on the bridge that crosses the Rhine
river. Couples will take a lock, and attach it to the
bridge's fence and throw the key into Rhine for love
and good luck. So, all the way, across the
whole bridge, the fence is covered in locks!
It feel like that thing we all did when we were young
where we pretended we were zipping our mouths
shut than locking it and throwing away the key.
A secret love for two.

I think I'd bedazzle our lock for sure :)

Thanks for the pictures Katelyn of Light the Light

Sliced Baked Potato!

Im thinking...with my mouth watering:
'Why haven't I thought of this before?'
Hello Baked Potato!

Sliced baked potatoes Method Preheat the oven to
220˚C (425˚F). Put the potato on a chopping board, flat
side down. Start from one end of the potato, cut
almost all the way through, at about 3 to 4 mm intervals.
Arrange the potatoes in a baking tray and insert the
garlic in between the slits. Scatter some butter on top
of each potato. Then drizzle the olive oil and sprinkle
some sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Bake
the potatoes for about 40 minutes or until
the potatoes turn crispy and the flesh is soft.
